Bagi sebagian besar pelajar, mata pelajaran matematika merupakan salah satu momok terbesar yang harus dihadapi setiap harinya. Karena itulah, berbagai cara dilakukan oleh pihak sekolah untuk mengatasi sindrom fobia matematika yang dialami para siswa.

Salah satu cara unik dilakukan oleh New Charter Academy yang terletak di Ashton-under-Lyne. Pihak sekolah mengundang bek Manchester United, Jonny Evans, sebagai tutor selama sehari di bidang matematika untuk menumbuhkan antusiasme para siswa terhadap mata pelajaran tersebut.

Tentu bukan tanpa alasan mengapa Evans yang diundang. Pemain asal Irlandia Utara ini memang memiliki kemampuan yang istimewa di bidang matematika saat masih menjadi pelajar dulu.

"Saya menikmati matematika di masa sekolah, namun ini adalah salah satu mata pelajaran yang ditakuti oleh para pelajar. Memang sulit untuk membuat mereka mencintai matematika sejak dini," ungkap Evans seperti dilansir Manchester Evening.

"Semoga saat mereka melihat sosok seperti saya menikmati matematika, mereka akan lebih bersemangat lagi. Dalam kunjungan ini saya menunjukkan bahwa matematika juga memiliki peranan dalam dunia olahraga."

Dalam satu sesi rangkaian kegiatan tersebut, Evans mengajak para siswa menyaksikan laga Derby Manchester tahun 2009 antara United dan City. Laga tersebut berkesudahan 4-3 berkat gol Michael Owen di menit 96.

Evans mengajak para siswa untuk menghitung jumlah umpan dan juga peluang sambil berkeliling kelas dan berbincang santai soal matematika.

Villa Jelaskan Konflik Dengan Messi

   Itulah yang terjadi kala Barcelona mencapai kata sepakat dengan salah satu organisasi anggota PBB, Unicef. Tepatnya di tahun 2004, klub setuju untuk mengikutsertakan nama organisasi yang mengurusi masalah anak sedunia itu di jersey kebesaran mereka.
   
   Menariknya, tidak seperti kontrak sponsorship lainnya, Barcelona bukannya mendapatkan uang, malah kehilangan dana. Menurut laporan The Mirror, El Barca justru menyumbangkan 1,5 juta poundsterling per tahun untuk digunakan sebagai dana penyokong proyek kemanusiaan di berbagai belahan dunia.
